Witnessing to Jehovah witnesses

THE KEY ISSUE WITH CULTS is CHRIST’S DEITY

Here is a way of witnessing to Jehovah’s Witnesses (J.W’s) that uses scriptures that even work with their Watchtower translation of the Bible which designed to nullify verses on Christ’s Deity.

When they come to the door offering you one of their books, say: “I would be happy to take the book but first of all could I ask you a question? You have come to my door because you believe you are in the true faith – is this right? You were so kind to share a couple of scriptures with me, I wonder if I might share one scripture with you. Did you know the Bible has a test as to whether we are in the true faith?

*2Corinthians 13:15: “Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognise this about yourselves, that JESUS CHRIST IS IN YOU – unless indeed you fail the test?”
I would be happy to be able to tell you my testimony of when I received Christ into my heart and now I know that Jesus Christ indwells me. The original Greek says ‘Christ IN you.’ I suggest you get an interlinear Bible and check this out.”

*“Do you believe that Jesus Christ is Michael the Archangel?”

(J.W) ‘Yes’

Then ask them for just one scripture that categorically says this.

“Let’s look at Daniel 10:13: “behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me.” Michael is one of the chief princes, which means that he is one of several like him.

Look now at Jude 9: “Michael the archangel, in contending with the devil, when he disputed about the body of Moses, dared not bring against him a reviling accusation, but said, “The Lord rebuke you!” Here Michael dare not rebuke satan – did Jesus Christ ever rebuke satan?”

(JW) ‘Yes, often.’

“Is it possible that Michael is who the Bible says he is, an Archangel and not Jesus Christ? If you have the right Jesus Christ you are right for all eternity, but if you have the wrong Jesus Christ you are wrong for all eternity”.

*“If I could prove to you out of the Bible that Jesus Christ is called Almighty God would you believe it? Revelation 1:8: “I am the Alpha and the Omega” says the Lord God,
“who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

“Who is this? Are we both agreed it is the Almighty speaking?
Can we agree that the Almighty calls Himself the Alpha and Omega?

Revelation 22:12-16 further identifies who the Almighty is:
“Behold I am coming quickly.”
v13: “I am Alpha and Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End…
v16: “I, Jesus have sent my angel to testify to you these things….”

“The speaker identifies Himself as Jesus.
Based on v13 can we all agree that ‘Alpha and Omega’ gives Himself the title ‘the First & Last’?

Let’s return to Revelation1 for further identification of ‘the First and the Last.’
Verses 13-18 contain the vision of the resurrected and glorified Son of Man. Who is this?”

(JW) Jesus.

*In verses 17-18 He clearly identifies Himself as ‘the First and the Last’:

“When I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. But He laid His right hand on me, saying to me, “Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last. I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death.” Who is this?

(JW) Jesus.

“By His own words Jesus is the Alpha and Omega, the First and the Last, the Almighty God, and therefore it is Jesus who is speaking in Revelation 1:8 as the Lord God (see Revelation 1:5-7 for confirmation that it is Jesus speaking these words).

Who are you going to believe Jesus Christ or the Watch Tower Publications?”

*1Timothy 1:16,17: “For this reason I found mercy, in order that in me as the foremost, Jesus Christ might demonstrate his perfect patience, as an example for those who would believe in Him for eternal life. Now to the King eternal [not created], immortal, invisible, the only God, be honour and glory forever and ever. Amen.” Who is this eternal King and God in v17? The rules of grammer tell us that it must be Jesus (from v16).

*John 14:18 is where Jesus says the Father is greater than Him. When reading this scripture we must remember there are two aspects of the Lord Jesus Christ: (1) His absolute Deity – He was truly God all the time. (2) His manhood.

Philippians 2:5-7 says that during His earthly life Jesus humbled Himself and emptied Himself of His glory as God (but never ceased being God) and took upon Himself the a human nature, becoming a man perfectly submitted to His Father, to represent us and buy back and restore all that Adam lost.

See also Colossians 2.8,9: “For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form”(v9). All is all, and full is full. Jesus was totally God within flesh, God manifest in the flesh, fully God and fully man.

Truly God Himself purchased the church with His own Blood:
*Acts 20:28: “Be on guard for yourself and for all the flock among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the Church of God which He purchased with His own Blood.” The Blood of Christ is called the blood of God. So Christ must be God.

Two Questions to create doubt in the authority of the Watch-Tower Organisation.
* “Doesn’t it trouble that your organisation has falsely prophesied the date of the end of the world on numerous occasions?”

* “Doesn’t it concern you that all the best Hebrew and Greek scholars consider that your translation of the Bible is inaccurate and deliberately perverted to conceal the Deity of Christ? Doesn’t it worry you that your leaders claim to have it right and everyone else is wrong? Doesn’t it worry you that you are basing your salvation on the authority of your organisation which has proved to be fallible?”
